Pontis – Vicus, a village built on a bridge. This is a glorious building which today houses the Cremonesini Institute, a Non Profit Organisation that offers residential care for the mentally disabled. The castle’s structure dates back to the year one thousand. Once it was no longer to be used for defensive purposes it became a foundry but fell victim to demolition in the nineteenth century when the owner at the time Kewmüller, a German prince, decided to turn it into a noble residence. The present appearance dates back to the early twentieth century when it was bought by Monsignor Cremonesini and adapted to the needs of residential care. It has maintained the features of a noble residence: a magnificent interior garden, colonnades with small loggias and a central church. Its origins as a fortified building can be seen in the high perimeter walls, in the towers and in the overall concept of the entire building.
