Comune di Orzinuovi – Palazzo del Podestà

The palazzo of the Chief Magistrate is now the Town Hall. It overlooks the elegant Piazza Vittorio Emanule II and its walls show the signs and embellishments of time. The ogive arches that precede the palazzo are fifteenth century, whilst coats of arms and frescos recall the strong presence of the Serenissima. Stone plaques and inscriptions tell of the Unification of Italy whilst decorative architectural elements date back to the 1700s. Inside it houses a beautiful canvas by Giulio Cesare Procaccini (1574 – 1625) The Mystical Marriage of Saint Catherine.
