Sanctury of Madonna in Pratis

This sanctuary is situated outside the town, close to the banks of the River Oglio, and is dedicated to the “Madonna in Pratis”. Today nothing remains of the ancient foundation, Santa Maria in Silvis, yet the Neo-classical style of the building is evident. The entrance is preceded by a pronaos with four columns with tympanum and decorative frieze. The entire cycle of frescos inside is the work of Giulio Motta. The presbytery area, enclosed by a fine wrought iron gate is embellished with a beautiful Madonna and Child on the altar; the artist is unknown, but the piece certainly came from the previous building.
