Scorzarolo Ice house (suburb of Verolavecchia)

Not far from the village, in the middle of the countryside, stands the unmistakable outline of an ice house. It is an unusual brick built construction with a circular floor plan and ogive covering. It goes down into the ground for about four metres and in winter it was filled with snow, ready to be used for storing food during the summer months, but it may also have had a public health and welfare function.
