Town of Palazzolo s/O

The name Palazzolo had the specification “sull’Oglio” added later to distinguish it from other towns with the same name, while highlighting its ties with the river. The name Palazzolo may derive from the Latin “palatium”, in fact Roman rule was key in the evolution of the settlement. Palazzolo was declared a City in 1954 and owes much of its development to local industries, many of which are still around today. The Mario Pedrali collection is worth a mention, along with the small naval museum. A nice walk for the tourist is one that sets out from the square in front of the Castle and goes down towards Via Canonico Bissolotti, running alongside the theatre and the Pieve until reaching the pretty Via Carvasaglio, the paved street that runs parallel to two squares, Zamara and Roma, where the Parish church stands, then continues towards the old Roman bridge heading towards Mura.
