Geographically speaking, Sarnico closes the Bergamo side of Lake Iseo; the bridge that links it to Paratico marks the beginning of the River Oglio. The old town centre still has a mediaeval semicircular structure that unfolds from Via Lantieri, one of the most popular shopping streets of the “Contrada” area. The layout of the streets in this point actually traces that of the old mediaeval defensive walls. Tourists are encouraged to take a stroll along both sides of the lakefront or to stop off at one of the outlying lakeside resorts. Following a tour of the old town centre you can walk down to the end of Viale Garibaldi where, just after the pedestrian area, there is a recent cobbled square that concludes the walk.
