MENUInside the Park there are several protected nature reserves that are home to some endangered species of animals and plants. It is a safe resting place for migratory birds, mammals and reptiles that nest here on the land and in the sky and water. The local area is dotted with villas, fortresses and magnificent castles where noble families kept their riches. Cycling, or wandering on foot, through the warren of narrow streets and cobbled pathways in the surrounding countryside you can find small shrines and sacred chapels with frescos of votive images lit by red candles and decorated with fresh flowers. The picturesque taverns in the rural villages are not to be missed. Here, where time has stood still, you may even encounter a farmer and his donkey slowly pulling a cart loaded with grain and enjoy the typical dishes of local tradition, far from the smog and chaos.
